How Becoming a VA Changed My Life. Forever.

In 2017, I was a stay at home momma of 2 littles. I was having a great time, but something was missing. I had this internal desire to do more. Not that what I was doing was not worthwhile, but I had this deep desire to do something for me.

The Search Begins

Thus began a search. I began searching for opportunities to work from home. You know the Google search “legit work from home jobs.” Have you searched for it yet? If you are reading this, I bet you have, or you have considered it.

I found a couple super part time gigs that worked for a while, but there was still something missing. The opportunity to be creative and build something! Then the light bulb went off. I can become a blogger. I followed some amazing bloggers, who I knew made some great money, and I also have a friend who has a fabulous blog. That’s it!! (So I thought).

I sat down with my friend, who has an amazing blog, and asked her all the questions. By the end of that lunch playdate, I knew, blogging was NOT the solution. Although for some, it is a great option, for me it just wasn’t it. But, before I left her house, she suggested to me that I look into becoming a virtual assistant.

Virtual Assistant? What is that?

The Search Narrows

When I got home that night, I jumped into a new Google/Pinterest search, “How to become a virtual assistant.”

Ya’ll, this simple search began a life-changing journey that I still can’t believe is mine.

I found an amazing resource from Abbey Ashley over at The Virtual Savvy. She has a Virtual Assistant Checklist and Starter Kit, that opened my eyes to how I could start my own virtual assistant business and do exactly what I want to do.

I began soaking up every piece of information about becoming a virtual assistant that I could find. Within a few days, I knew in the pit of my stomach, this was it! It would give me the opportunity to create and build something that was mine, and as a bonus, bring in a little extra money to our family income. In reality, I just wanted to find a way to pay for my son’s preschool and our gym membership.

I could not stop consuming all the content. Have you ever found a book you couldn’t put down, or started a pinterest board that quickly filled with new pins? Yep, that was me. My virtual assistant board was packed! And what I noticed was that a lot of the content was from Abbey Ashley at The Virtual Savvy. So I kept digging.

Big Decision

I made the decision that I was going to make this happen, and I wanted to do it right. What I really wanted was a step-by-step process on how to make this dream a reality.

What is so great about becoming a virtual assistant, is that you don’t have to have a degree, or a certification, or even take a course. You can totally DIY it. After doing the research, I decided that I didn’t want to do this on my own. I wanted a complete blueprint on how to launch, grow, and scale my virtual assistant business, and that is exactly why I decided to purchase Abbey’s signature course, The SavvySystem.

After jumping into the course, and following the steps, I was able to launch my own business and sell out my services within 2 months. It was literally a dream come true. After just a few short months, I was able to pay for my son’s preschool, my gym membership, and still had a little bit leftover. I loved it!

I was getting to make the choices. I was building a business focused on services I loved, working when I loved, and working for the people I loved! This business was mine!

Fast forward to 2021

My business looks and feels completely different today. It has been a ride, and one I would ride over and over again.

I started by offering simple tasks such as social media support to later offering full executive assistant services to now no longer offering services, but rather offering 1:1 coaching. Although my services are completely different today, I am still building a business that I LOVE!

It all started with a desire.
A desire to do more.
A desire to have something that was my own.
A desire to create.
A desire to make money from home.

Virtual assistance isn’t for everyone. But it is a legit way to work from home or really anywhere you can dream! There is no required course, certificate, or degree. You can literally start with the services you already know how to do, and create an amazing business of your dreams. You can make it whatever you want it to be.
